Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

We love stuffed cabbage rolls but it takes soooooo long to prepare the recipe.  My grandma Michalina that is no longer with us used to make the best ones, then the recipe was passed down to my mom, and someday I will get it.  I wish my grandma would be here to try this amazing creation.  It's such a time saver and it gives the same great taste.  I would love to know what she would say.  Would she approve?

Just plain awesome! It's delicious, warm, and great comfort food. Good for a cold winter day.  How can you beat a one-pot meal that is inexpensive, quick to make, and tastes fantastic?  My kids who don't like cabbage ate this without complaints.

  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.  Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring until ground beef is no longer pink and onion is tender.
Add the garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute.
Add the chopped cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, nutmeg, pepper, and salt.  Bring to a boil.  Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
